Grief

The town had turned blue.  All emotions drained, almost zombie like, the people shifted about the town carrying on with their daily task.  The people were surrounded by this feeling.  The sea and the sky mocked their emotions, making fun of the townspeople by their simple color.  The people of the town could only remember the horrible events that haunted their past, making lumps in there troughs as they were on the verge of having the glistening tears come down their cheeks.  The people didn't want to accept their new life.
The town eventually turned red.  Anger filled the air and the people turned against each other, blaming their past on one another.  An ember flew into their lives making them turn into savages.  Cardinals flew above trying to stay out of the mess that was below.  The blood that pumped through their veins had betrayed them, making them into something that they regretted.
The town turned gray.  Townspeople slept in late, not having the will to get out of bed.  The sky reflected their emotions, not mocking anymore, but feeling sympathetic for them.  The townspeople could only see the metal and concrete, the harsh things that surrounded them.   They focused only on the dark and ash colored items in the world.  Only seeming them.
The town turned purple.  The town had accepted their past causing the darkness to evacuate and joy to fill its place.  The sky had turned into a beautiful sunset that some of the townspeople painted out of delight of the simple things in the world.  The town had regained the peace that it once had and everything was quiet.

  1. I like how you've used the shades to mark the passages of the town, its evolution. I really like this line and think you could use it as the basis for another story even: "The blood that pumped through their veins had betrayed them, making them into something that they regretted."
